Coronavirus: What’s Happening with Prenatal Care, Labor and Delivery

With the explosion of new information about COVID-19, new Coronavirus prenatal care protocols have been put into place, and what happens when you’re delivering in a hospital is going to be a bit different. This information is current as of March 21st, 2020. We’ll be bringing you live updates on our social channels as they happen… Read on and feel free to bookmark this video. Stay safe out there, y’all!

Highlights:

  • Vitamins C & D are your friends, and your biggest defense to staying healthy (other than hand washing, etc.)
  • Low risk pregnancies will have fewer in-person visits
  • Appointments that don’t require imaging or blood work will be conducted via telemedicine or via the internet (depending on what technology is available)
  • Should high risk pregnancies require more visits, your medical team will direct you to dedicated entryways to facilities, specifically designated for Labor & Delivery patients
  • These same entryway protocols will be in effect when mom comes to the hospital to have her baby
  • Visitor policies are changing rapidly, but as of right now, non-essential personnel will not be permitting during routine visits
  • Only one visitor will be permitted to accompany mom while she is in labor
  • Postpartum visitors will be subject to the same protocols — no extra visitors allowed right now

We wish you the best of luck as you embark upon your new journey during this challenging and unprecedented time. Once you’ve welcomed your new baby, read on for more resources to get you through the postpartum phase.

You can do it! We’ll see you on the other side 💞
